The giant media-wall called SolPix created by SPG Architects is the largest prototype of its kind. Embedded with LED lights and a photo-voltaic array, it combines energy efficient lighting, solar power and bling, and it can also function as a set of heavy blinds: each piece shifts according to the focus of sunlight.

Monitoring its own energy performance, SolPix is self aware. The LED display flashes graphics with energy collection and consumption. Its designers hope architects will make use of SolPix for large-scale building facades in the future.

StudioDosi has made a green proposition for the headquarters of the Province of Parma in Italy. The vegetation-covered array of green buildings is a design encompassing extensive gardens. The living exoskeleton will cover a real building, provide shade and natural ventilation. Wind towers also help warm air to escape.
Architects and engineers from StudioDosi designed a 4-level 13,500 sq meters structure made up of two skins: the inner one has a double glazing while the outer one is made of irregular shaped climbing vegetable strips. Wide air gaps between these still allows natural light to go through, as well as through tree skylights and atria situated in the center of the building.

The proposal also include utilization of both thermal solar and photovoltaïcs to generate energy. Energy efficiency will be optimized thanks to a geothermal plant, resulting in a zero-carbon building. Moreover, the design foresees the collection of waste water and privileges storm water infiltration.
